Set in the coastal beauty of the Hamptons, The Rams Head Inn is at once a historical gem and a modern traveler’s paradise. The gracious country accommodations are matched with modern luxuries, so you can relax in the comfort you deserve.

The cozy decor in our suites and rooms puts a contemporary spin on country elegance. Whether you’re treating yourself to a deep-tissue massage or sipping a cocktail on the lawn, our team will ensure you feel pampered every moment of your stay. If you’re joining us by sea, our private dock is here to welcome your boat, whether you’re docking or mooring.

In addition to our stunning beaches and small-town atmosphere, the inn is close to the beauty, dining, and leisure activities of East Hampton, NY. Hotels on the mainland just can’t compete with our perfect blend of relaxing privacy and fun-filled activities for the whole family, here and in town.

Exceptional Dining & Leisure Options

No visit to The Rams Head Inn would be complete without a visit to our dining room. Our seasonal menus are bursting with flavor, and every dish is made with care and locally-sourced ingredients – many from our own garden. We focus on bringing you flavorful meals, from grilled skirt steak to our fennel-dusted salmon. We also offer a variety of gluten-free and vegan options to make sure that everyone feels welcome at our table.

Of course, there’s lots more to do besides indulging in an exceptional meal, including a wide range of leisure activities. East Hampton is known for its white beaches, but our hotel’s little slice of heaven in Rams Head Cove has its own beauty and charm.

Lounging on one of our beach blankets may be just right for some, while the more active members of the crew can be busy from dawn to dusk and beyond. Get competitive with a game of bingo, mahjong, or chess, or try your hand at bocce ball, croquet, and cornhole. Seeking a bit more adventure? Set sail in a kayak or find your balance on a paddle board exploring Shelter Island’s waterways.

A Luxurious Boat Docking Experience

When you’re sailing through the Hamptons, a nearby boat dock is like a siren song. At the Rams Head Inn, we’re always ready to welcome our seafaring visitors to our private boat dock. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and smooth docking experience. Our Dock Captain Graham is waiting for your call on channel 77 – your key to unlocking a convenient docking or mooring spot.

Even if you don’t own a boat, you can rent one and take to the water in style. A little way away in East Hampton, you’ll find even more spots to dock and explore. Miles of gorgeous coastline unfold before you as you float past the white sandy beaches and wild, untamed greenery. It’s possible to feel truly disconnected from the world out on the water with the sea breeze in your hair. You don’t need to be in a million-dollar yacht to breathe in this feeling of paradise.

Things To Do In East Hampton

Just an hour’s drive from Shelter Island, East Hampton is a lovely way to spend a day or two of your Hamptons vacation. It’s no surprise that this wealthy area is home to many stars seeking beautiful surroundings and small-town peace. It might be quiet, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do! Your favorite East Hamptons hotel is the starting point for a fun-filled active vacation.

The area is known for its beautiful beaches, each one with its own personality while still retaining the relaxed East Hamptons vibe. If you’ve had your fill of swimming and lounging in the sun, it’s time to put on those walking shoes or hop in the car to go exploring. Kick things off with a chilled tour of East Hampton’s iconic windmills, a great way to mosey through the area. These historic windmills were built hundreds of years ago, and although they aren’t active, they provide a fascinating peek into the past.

Taking a stroll through a garden is wonderful for your mental health. The Mimi Meehan Native Plant Garden in the East Hamptons is bursting with native plant life. Its curator designed it to be both ornamental and attractive to monarch butterflies, birds, and other local wildlife. Take a minute to find some quiet and enjoy the vibrant colors around you.

The East Hampton Town Marine Museum is also well worth a visit. It tells the story of the area through the prism of its long-time connection to the sea. Come for the maritime history, stay for the wonderful collection of artifacts, photographs, models, and engaging displays. If you can, time your visit so you can join the public tours run by the knowledgeable team from the East Hampton Historical Society.

Family-Friendly Activities

Despite the Hamptons’ reputation for being an adult escape, the hotels and leisure options in the area are actually quite family-friendly. There are plenty of activities to excite the whole crew, from littles all the way to the teens. Many East Hampton, NY, hotels offer children’s programs, but even without them, there’s no shortage of things to keep the kids entertained.

The Hamptons Mini Golf course is loads of fun for the whole family. Featuring historic Hamptons landmarks, this beautifully-designed course is like taking a tiny tour of the whole area in an afternoon. Plus, you’ll get to show off your putting skills. The Guild Hall also has a range of programs and events for kids and teens to enjoy, from sing-alongs to silent discos. Take a look at their calendar to find out what’s happening when you’ll be there. And, of course, when it’s time for a lazier day, there’s always the beaches!

At The Rams Head Inn, we provide a space for kids to be kids – and give their parents a break. Our kid’s area is just close enough to be easily accessible without spoiling your ‘me’ time. Check out our calendar for our children’s story-times and other special events.

Dock your boat at The Rams Head Inn and settle in for a vacation that’s exactly as relaxed or exciting as you desire!
